A big of a problem with the low loader

It broke. Twice. And this little bit of aluminium has made my spirits slump and rise in recent days.

One of the beautiful things about cycle touring is that you've got all you need to survive, for weeks, in the for saddle bags hanging off the bike. There's a 'completeness' and wholeness is being self sufficient like this.

It's a bit of a problem therefore if one of the pannier racks breaks, as it has done twice so far on our journey up to Copenhagen. The first time we in Holland and the bike shops there looked at it, shook their head and declared, in impeccable English, "we don't have these things in the Netherlands".

Taking pity on me Biddy swapped my broken but bodge-repaired track with hers. Problem solved..... until, a couple of days later, my new rack breaks again.

I can attest that stting alongside the road verge with a broken rack doesn't fill one with the joys of spring. Take a look at the new bridge repair we affected by the road. This saw me good for a few hundred kilometres until we arrived in Copenhagen, only to be told by numerous bike shops " we do not have these in Denmark".

After several hours of dejected searching though we were directed to Cyklistforbund (the Danish Cyclist Federation ship) who quickly lifted out a new pannier rack....... Hooray!

Unfortunately the thing wouldn't fit my bike field. Aaagh!

Fortunately the mechanic looked at it, said, again in impeccable English, "leave it with me for 30 minutes" and, after a bit of drilling, fitted my new panniers. And ask he asked was a couple of cans of beer.

I am complete and while again.

Thank you Cyklistforbund.
